Q: How are FITA courses different from that may already be offered in the market?

A: FITA offers highly integrated Banking and Technology courses whereas those courses available in the market tend not to be so highly coupled. FITA courses are targeted at IT professionals and management level executives in the financial services sector desiring to upskill themselves in various areas of T&O, as well as IT professionals who want to transit into the financial services sector. Additionally, participants get the opportunity to work on world-class banking systems and hear valuable insights from practitioners in an industry sharing session.

Q: What is the duration of your courses?

A: Generally, the duration of our NICF courses is 3-4 days. The duration of the SMU Professional Certificate in Technology and Operations (IBF Level 1) is estimated to be completed over 5 – 8 weeks.

Q: What are the types of funding/ subsidies available?

A: Funding for Singaporeans and PRs are available for FITA courses, subject to terms and conditions being met. For enquiries on funding scheme available, please email fita_admin@smu.edu.sg

Q: How and to whom should I submit the claims to?

A: If you have attended an NICF course, you can submit your claim via Infocomm Competency Management System portal www.idaicms.gov.sg within 3 months from the actual completion date.

If you have attended the IBF course, you can submit your claim directly to IBF via IBF portal here.

Q: Can I pay for only the 30% remaining fee assuming that I qualify for the funding?

A: Full course fees should be made upfront upon registration. Participants are to submit their application to the relevant agencies to seek the claims accordingly.

Q: Are there any pre-requisites for the courses?

A: Ideally, the participants should have a basic diploma and for some courses that deep-dive into specialisations, it will be preferable for the participants to possess basic knowledge of the domain. Please refer to each individual course on the pre-requisite.

Q: How will I be assessed in the course?

A: For NICF courses, a minimum score of 70% comprising the below components constitutes a pass:

Summative Assessment – 60% The Summative Assessment consists of 20-30 multiple choice questions and is to be completed in 1 hour. The test will be conducted online – in house at the end of the course. This assessment questions will be based on the key concept of the course.

Cumulative Continuous Assessment – 40% The learner will be assessed based on in-class participation and awarded by the Instructor/trainer.

A: For IBF Course, a minimum score of 60% is required for each module.  Depending on the module/ topic, the assessment consists of multiple choice questions, case studies, open-ended questionsand group presentation where relevant.

Q: What do I do if I fail my assessments?

A: You will be able to re-sit for the assessments. For NICF courses, the re-assessment fee of S$160.50 will be levied. For IBF course, the re-assessment fee is $53.50 per sub-module, $160.50 per module and $428 for the entire programme. All fees stated are inclusive of GST. Q: Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the courses?

A: Yes, a certificate of completion and attainment will be issued to the participants who have successfully completed the course and its assessments within 1 month upon completion of the course. For IBF course, the participants will also be conferred the IBF Qualified (IBFQ) certification status by IBF.

Q: What is the mode of instruction?

A: The course delivery would be a mixture of class room and online learning. Participants will be provided with access to our Learning Management System to gain access to the learning materials for pre-reading and/or participate in the class activities.

Q: Do I have to bring my laptop?

A: Laptops will be provided by FITA for the course.

Q: I am experiencing problems registering for my course via regOnline. How can I solve this?

A: Regonline supports Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher, Mozilla Firefox 29+, Chrome 34+ and any other modern web browser compatible with HTML5 and CSS3. Should you be using one of the mentioned versions, you're advised to clear your browser's cache and cookies by holding onto the Ctrl+Shift+Delete buttons.
