Terms and Conditions

1.1   Registration of courses is through our website www.fita.smu.edu.sg. For group registrations, email fita_admin@smu.edu.sg.
1.2   All courses are subject to confirmation. SMU will send a confirmation email to participants one week before class start date.
1.3   Registrations will generally close one week before class start date. Exception may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis.
1.4   The data provided will be used for course administration including the conduct of any course-related surveys. The data may also be disclosed to relevant organisations that require the information such as partners, certification awarding bodies, examination agencies, and funding agencies on a need-to basis.

2.1   Any registration of a course, whether online or otherwise, will only be confirmed upon receipt of full payment or pre-agreed amount if otherwise communicated. Payment of course fees should be received by SMU at least seven working days prior to the class start date.
2.2   Payment of course fees constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions herein. Payment can be made via cheque only. Alternate payment arrangement, if required, will be managed on an exceptional basis. Cheque payment must be made payable to “Singapore Management University” and mailed to FITA office. State clearly your name/s in full and course/ exam title behind the cheque.

3.1   SMU course schedules including course content, course fees and course availability are subject to change.
3.2   The registrant’s recourse in the event of any changes in the above clause, is limited to one of the following:
a.   Enrol in the same course with a later start date. If there has been a change in course fees for the same course, the registrant will pay to SMU the difference in the fees.
b.   Enrol in another course conducted by SMU. If the fees of the replacement course selected costs more than what has already been paid to SMU, the registrant will pay to SMU the difference in the fees. Conversely if fees of the replacement course selected cost less than what has already been paid to SMU, SMU will make a refund of the difference to the registrant.

4.1   If SMU cancels a class:

SMU reserves the right to cancel any class at its absolute discretion without assigning any reason for such cancellations. In the event that the registrant’s class is cancelled prior to its commencement, SMU will make a full refund of all course and exam fees (if any) already paid by the registrant.
4.2   If registrant cancels a course:

All cancellation requests must be received in writing. If notice of cancellation is given:
  • 7 working days or more before course starts - 100% refund of all course and exam fees (if any) paid
  • 7 working days or less before course starts – No refund
  • "No-show" on first day of class or after course commencement date - No refund of all course and exam fees (if any) paid

5.1   Notice of any assessment rescheduling or cancellation must be received at least seven working days prior to assessment date. Assessments can only be deferred to a later scheduled date within one year of course commencement.
5.2   Assessments reschedule or cancellation is subject to an admin fee. Registrants are to make payment to SMU accordingly, via cheque or alternate payment arrangement if agreed upon. Fees stated are inclusive of GST.
i.   Reschedule $53.50
ii.   Cancellation $107
Cheque payment must be made payable to “Singapore Management University” and mailed to FITA office. State clearly your name/s in full and course/ exam title behind the cheque.
5.3   For valid reasons, no admin fee will be imposed. Registrants must write in to SMU with supporting documents, at least seven working days before the examination date.
  • Death or illness of immediate family members
  • Military deployment (In-camp-training)
  • Hospitalisation leave
  • Official overseas business trips
Notice received with less than seven working days and “no-shows” will not be granted deferment towards a later assessment date.
5.4   For medical emergencies, submission of the appropriate medical advice must be made, within seven days after the “no-show” assessment date.

6.1   Reassessment of a course can be arranged. For NICF courses, a fee of $160.50 will be levied. For IBF courses, the re-assessment fee is $53.50 per sub-module, $160.50 per module and $428 for the entire programme. All fees stated are inclusive of prevailing GST.

6.1   The registrant must register with SMU to receive a userID and a password for access to e-content. The registrant is solely responsible for maintaining confidentiality of the userID and password and is fully responsible for all activities, charges, and liabilities associated with the account. The registrant must immediately notify SMU of any unauthorized use of the account, and until such time as SMU receives the notification, the registrant is responsible for any unauthorized use or charges made on or through the account. The copyright of the online learning materials belongs to SMU, copying, downloading and distribution of these materials without prior consent from SMU is prohibited.

8.1   Upon successful completion and assessment of each course, you will receive a certificate issued by Singapore Management University. Certificates will be mailed out to registrants one month after course completion.

9.1  

There will be an admin fee charge of $26.75 (inclusive of GST) for every piece of certificate reprint. Certificates will be mailed out one week upon receipt of payment for the request. Should you require the Certificate to be sent via express delivery, charges will apply.


10.1   Although the courses conducted by SMU are for educational purposes, neither SMU nor its employees make any representations, warranties or guarantees the qualification or appointment of SMU employees or that any registrant will obtain any particular result, including, without limitation, passing any examination or mastering any particular discipline or skill or achieve any other tangible result.
10.2   SMU or its employees shall not be liable to any registrant or any third party for any personal injuries or any damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or for lost profits) resulting from the registrant’s application for or attendance of any course conducted by SMU.
10.3  

The registrant agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SMU, its subsidiaries, officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates and partners from and against any claim, demand or legal proceeding, including legal expenses, made by any third party or arising from or out of the registrant’s breach of the terms and conditions herein.

SMU reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions without prior notice.


11.1   These terms and conditions herein are governed solely by the laws of Singapore. The registrant hereby consents to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in Singapore in all disputes arising out of or relating to the registrant’s application for or attendance of any course conducted by SMU.
